It’s official—after an entire lifetime (so far) of being a truly East Coast girl, I have gone to the other side. I never thought I’d do it. Never. But when girl meets boy, anything can happen. So, in February, we dragged all of our stuff to San Francisco and Samantha House Jewelry opened its first West Coast studio.
Now, I’ve been to LA, and there is much to say about LA, but I had never visited San Francisco. I was scared. But, after several months out here trying to get all of our vendors and sales reps and production in order, we are up and running and just in time for the holidays. We even did our first well, four shoots here in SF. We did fly a kick-ass photographer from Boston in because we haven’t figured out the fashion community here yet (is there one?). We met a bunch of awesome jewelry designers and were even a part of the Las Vegas Accessories the Show. So much fun! Friday we launch our Holiday Collection (SO SO Pretty) so keep an eye out. We’ll also be doing some giveaways and some drive-by discounts.
The guy who did this to me.
Drumroll please! We at Samantha House Jewelry are proud to preview our newest collection: TWIST. The collection is a first for us. Samantha used lush twisted cord (hence the inspiration for the name) in vibrant hues and mixed them with large agate chunks, silvery pearls and swirled quartz. Not only are we super excited about the new line but we are also thrilled to announce that all Samantha House Jewelry will be sold at a lower price point going forward. We appreciate that everyone wants to own a piece of SHJ but not everyone can afford a $400 necklace—so we’ve shifted some things around, harassed our vendors into giving us a better discount and now Samantha House Jewelry is accessible to all! Look for our new web site in the New Year. And Happy Holidays!!!
Kate here again (see, I told you we’d be fast friends!) and I wanted to let you know that Samantha House Jewelry is now on Instagram! We’ll be sharing pictures of our daily inspirations and behind-the-scenes snapshots of what we’re up to, so please don’t hesitate to follow along. Our username is _SamanthaHouse (the underscore is v. important!). This username also happens to be our twitter handle, too, so please follow us there if you so desire as well.
See you in App-Land! xox
One of our models in a one of a kind fools gold and agate necklace and a paper dress.
On Tuesday, April 24, Samantha House Jewelry and one of our favorite Boston shops: Persona Jewelry+ threw a fun little fete for all of our friends. The event was hosted by Lisa Pierpont of Boldfacers, PR guru Stephanie Loeber, superstar South End men’s boutique owner (Uniform) Gary Ritacco and glam goddess socialite Ashley Wisneski. Models wore paper dresses—that’s right—dresses constructed from paper with ultra huge floral hats to match. Very Lady Gaga. All dresses were handmade by stylist Jessica LePrevost. We’re not even sure where she came from but we’re in love. The adorable walking hangers were topped off with a sneak peek of Samantha House Jewelry’s new couture line of baubles. The event was a smash hit and the tres chic apres party was held at The hottest bar in town—The Hawthorne.
Check out these beautiful pictures by Sarah Winchester…
This is Samantha's favorite new piece. It's made of grey metal mesh with tons of sparking quartz all over it. So pretty!
This necklace is so pretty with three layers, one of grey and black agate, one of navy quartz and one of sandstone with perfect silver and gold flecks. Beautiful with this amazing paper dress by Jessica LePrevost.
You know that show Toddlers and Tiara’s? It’s where adorable 3 year-olds slap on enough makeup to inspire envy in a Vegas hooker. Along with years of therapy to deal with the countless hours learning to ride a unicycle while juggling red-hot pokers, someone’s eventually going to have to explain to these little ladies that makeup shouldn’t be 3 inches thick and applied with a spackling knife. Though these are extreme cases, it’s true that most women aren’t exactly masters of the art of seductive camouflage. Most stick to the same routine they’ve had since high school or attempt to make changes that end in either disaster or a “You can’t see it with the naked eye but this shade of brown is slightly more shimmery than the shade I normally wear.” situation. In short, most gals need help and don’t know where to find it (the MAC counter staffed by an 18 year-old wearing bright blue eye shadow and two sets of false lashes is not the place—FYI). Enter UK makeup artist slash rock star Lisa Eldridge. Lisa’s not only ridiculously adorable but she’s also retardely talented. On top of that, she doesn’t just use her web site for something silly like getting jobs—she actually helps people. “How?” you ask? Well, if you click on her site: www.lisaeldridge.com you’ll find butt loads of videos that teach you, step by step, how to transform your mug into that of a super model. The videos range from super simple to complex and could not be easier to follow. Time to grab your Hello Kitty makeup bag, whip out your Tinkerbell lip-gloss and go to town!
I am super excited.
Well, I’m glad you asked.
I’ve always wanted to do an affordable line of jewelry but I really didn’t know where to begin. I have always loved big chunky styles but I knew that it would be nearly impossible to do something hand-made and special on a severely reduced budget. It completely eluded me but I kept trying.
During my time designing my newest collection, SAM by Samantha House, I’ve gone through a weird metamorphosis. I used to exclusively like large offbeat jewelry, I used to work exclusively with stones but somehow along the path of creating this new line I came to truly love metal. Not the charms that certain designers sketch on a piece of paper and send over to China to get thrown into a mold and mass produced, but actually forming, hammering and constructing several pieces until they become something truly special and handmade. The result is my newest line. The first collection in this line is called Fete…as in: PARTY! And if any of you know me, I’m all about the party. Each piece can be layered to create a dramatic look or worn alone for a more delicate style. I absolutely love the collection and I really hope you guys do too. Please let me know what you think. I’m dying to hear the comments!
Available on http://www.samanthahousejewelry.com/ on Friday.
I hope you like it!!
