Meet SCOUT: The Super New Collection by Samantha House Jewelry
I love fall. Maybe because it reminds me of clothes shopping when I was little. I’d scour the stores with my stepmother and she’d force me to buy endless amounts of dresses (in a hopeless attempt to turn me into a girly-girl) when what I really wanted was a pair of jeans with strategic rips and a rocker tee. This, my high school mind decided, was the secret to true happiness and absolutely necessary to catapult me into the outstretched arms of the popular kids. Regardless of what I’d come home with there was always that possibility of reinventing myself; and that was the exciting part. Growing up (as in: I’m not all the way grown up yet) I still gravitate toward trends and bathe in the possibility of transforming an evening with the perfect little black dress draped with just the right sparkling necklace. When I design a new collection I imagine these moments in life that someone (even myself) would wear each piece with. Strangely, all of mine involve wearing a dress. Not a pair of jeans or rocker tee in sight. My stepmother finally won. I’m a girly-girl and proud of it. Click here to shop it!
Below is our first look at the new collection: ‘SCOUT’.

I love this shot because she's just headed into the abyss. It's the picture that inspired the name of the collection.

These are the first pieces I made. They look like a scribble. They're firm and sturdy and have the most beautiful shine to them.

These bracelets remind me of a huge watch. I'm constantly looking at it for the time when I wear it.

I gave these as gifts for my fashion week event and everyone freaked out. I love them because they're so light. My friend refuses to call them cocktail rings insisting they're 'champagne rings'.

This is a big necklace but it's so light that it feels like you're wearing nothing. Plus I love cobalt blue right now.

This is the same necklace but in silver and plum. It's named after a really lovely customer of mine in CA.

This style looks really simple but it's strange how different it looks when you tie it low then high.

The triangles in this pieces are so pretty to me. And I'm obsessed with how delicate the nude color looks against your skin.

By far the most popular piece in the collection so far. This piece is so lightweight and firm. It's really beautiful in person.
- This bracelet wraps around your wrist and explodes with sparkle.

It's almost impossible to understand how much of a statement this piece is without seeing it in person. So striking!

The Awesomest Awesome in Awesometown
With our bustling schedule here at Samantha House Jewelry we don’t really have time to peruse YouTube daily– but with the holiday weekend that just passed, I must admit that I did have some down time on my hands. First of all– super addictive. Plus there’s a lot of crap out there. I was shocked to find something other than a baby laughing or a kitty playing with a dog / ball of string. Seriously, do these people actually think we give a crap about that stuff? The scary part is the amount of hits those horrible vids actually get. I probably would have sworn off YT all together if not for the ACTUAL fun / funny / super amazing mock-music vids uploaded by The Key of Awesome. There are quite a few of them but my two favs are below. Kesha singing that she’s puking up beer and glitter? Amazing. And the Jersey Shore one made me pee a little. Watch them! Do it! Doooo it!

Our Latest Look Book: The DREAM Collection
Our summer styles are here! We’ve put together a small collection to get you through the summer months. We’ve added a gold Gina and we totally <3 it! We’re also big fans of the Jessica. It comes in 3 pretty pretty princess colors and we’re kind of swoony over the blue one. Plus it ties in the back so you can wear it super long or high on your neck. The Yoana is long on diamond-cut thin chain that ends in a crystal chain lariat with hanging faceted quartz. So pretty! The Helly is so cool with it’s suede fringe and chain. It reminds us of something a west coast girl would rock. Take a look and let us know which is your favorite!

The Fabulous Life of Lauren Kay!
Our latest Fab Lifer lives in Utah and works in DC. Huh? This cute-as-heck gal is in school in Utah studying Hebrew and runs the marketing for a major non-profit in DC. Pretty amazing. Then again, she is all that and a bag of chips. Lauren has been a loyal fan of Samantha House Jewelry for years and has a ton of pieces. That’s why we named a piece after her. You guessed it– this is THE Lauren Kay! She’s even sporting her namesake necklace on the cover below. We adore her and we know you will too!

7 Days of Awesomeness with Hayden-Harnett
It’s no secret that I love the super cool handbag line Hayden-Harnett. So when designer Toni Hacker asked me to take a 7-day style challenge I was all over it. Basically, I’m to take one of their bags, wear it in my own way for 7 days and report to their blog each day with photos and notes. Love it! Plus the bag is super gorg. so it’s all working out quite well. Follow me on their blog and check out the bag here. It’s really fun! Plus I’ll be sporting a new piece of Samantha House Jewelry each day as well. Today’s is the Toni necklace in blue. Below is a sneak peak of the bag’s cuteness!

Samantha House Jewelry <3's Singapore!
We at Samantha House Jewelry have been kicking butt and taking names here in the US of A for a few years now. The company is thriving and we think it’s time to break into other markets. We’ve been getting inquiries from overseas for quite a while but, to be honest, we were a little scared to jump. Then a lovely woman named Bina emailed us and, well, she was just so darn sweet and she held our hand through the whole process. Long story short: we now sell in the cutest shop on Singapore! It’s called Quintessential Gifts and it couldn’t be sweeter or more our style! Even their blog just oozes cuteness galore!
They obviously sell really amazing and unique gifts but they’re really known for the collection of handbags and jewelry that they offer. And now we’re part of it! Yay us! So if you find yourself on that side of the world– stop in and check it out.

We Really Really Mean This
I know that we don’t usually get all political up in here but we had to give a shout out to something really really awesome. Remember when the whole Prop 8 The Musical swept the web? And we were all like: Ooooooh- those gays are super clever and can write a jaunty tune? Oh yes, that’s what we said. Well, the newest (or maybe not that new but it has totally just gotten to us) is
FCK H8. Basically, it’s a non-profit organization that sells tees, stickers, hoodies and buttons and uses the proceeds to help out kids that are gay. The suicide rate in youngsters that are gay is ridic high and the attempted rate is downright scary. I’m in love with this organization myself. If you want to help- buy a shirt (they are super stylish. Shocker). At the very least watch the video (be warned: it drops the FBomb like it has full time employment doing so but it is very cool).

The Qvest for Great Jewelry!
We were super excited when we got a heads up today about one of our favorite pieces being featured in the ultra-cool cult-loving magazine Qvest! In a super sexy completely amazing editorial by Jeffery Jones. If you’re not familiar with this superstar magazine yet –let us educate you. It’s a London/Berlin based magazine and in the fashion world it’s pretty much one of the coolest rags out there. Its the go-to guide for all things fashionable and fabulous. Even if you don’t have a translator you’ll simply swoon over the pretty pictures and drool-worthy garb riddling every single page. Though you’ll have to go to a specialty magazine shop– if you can’t scrounge one up you can always check it out online for a quick fix. You’ll even see a digital version of our Lee necklace there. So so pretty!

Spring Madness. Seriously- we’re all crazy up in here.
I’m constantly reminded that the ongoing downpour that has suddenly sprung up is going to bring May flowers but to be frank- I’m sick of it. After a grueling winter what I really want is sun sun sun! And warmth. Yes. Warm and sunny please. I have to admit that the temperature gauge has been slowly on the rise and it hasn’t snowed for at least a week so I guess I should be happy. In lieu of dry warm weather I’ve taken to shopping for brightly colored spring things. And I’ve spent a pretty penny trying to capture that oh-so-desired warm fuzzy spring-is-finally-here feeling. In dress form. Then I thought- maybe other people are feeling the same way I do! Maybe their budget doesn’t allow for a $245 splurge. That’s why we here at Samantha House Jewelry have decided to put one item on sale every day in April. And that’s 50% off of one item every single day! Basically if you have your heart set on something…it’ll come around. So happy spring to you! And me and everyone. We’re going to b here at the studio with the heat turned waaaay up, dancing around in our skimpy warm weather dresses just waiting out the rain.

The Fabulous Life of Ellen Simpson!
We haven’t done one of these in a while but our new Fab Lifer is just too yummy to pass up. Ellen Simpson is a Brooklynite and a lover of Samantha House Jewelry. She’s cute as a pixie, smart as a whip and as charming as your grandmother’s needlepoint!
Ellen is an actress/foodie and balances it all quite nicely. She can often be found in her favorite Brooklyn nosh spot: Buttermilk Channel spreading good cheer and putting smiles on faces. When she’s not munching on their super delish dishes (they’re known for their buttermilk fried chicken) she’s either working on a new project like her upcoming experimental theater piece (so fun!), cooking and/or indulging in wine. A girl after our own hearts! But her love affair with wine has some certification to make it legit. She studied at the International WIne and Spirit Education Trust. La-ti-da! We just drink it like its water. Ellen even has a cooking blog. Check it out! It’s as cute as she is.
And if Ms. Simpson looks familiar, we do have to confess that she has modeled for our shopping site in the past. How could we resist? ! check her out.

Vogue Latin America is all about Samantha House Jewelry
We can’t believe it! Right after our super awesome shout out from Teen Vogue we got a call from Vogue Latin America requesting some of our jewelry to feature in the April issue. We sent them everything we had and a short month later, magazine in hand, we’re pretty (well, ridiculously) excited! We could be cool and collected about it but we’d totally be lying. We’re jumping through hoops over here. Though we’re not entirely sure what it says, we think it goes something like this: “We heart Samantha House Jewelry and you should too. Samantha House- Samantha House…blah blah blah.” We love it! Check out the pages below. They’re right there…right there! Yeah, we’re still a little over excited. We’ll calm down, regain our composure and get back to you. I mean, It’s Vogue.

Kind Of In Love
I know that Tara is our resident go to girl on hot new artists but I just had to give a shout out to my new fav band: Shenandoah and the Night. The music is sexy and smooth and for some reason inspires me to wish for downright hot weather just so I can listen to it out on my terrace sipping a Manhattan under the moonlight. Not to mention the fact that the band members are technically talented (not every band can say that– let’s be honest) with resumes that read like an introduction at the grammys. And let’s not forget (how could we?) that the three guys that back total hottie Shenandoah are a pretty wide variety of cute-as-hell themselves. So if you’re just that kind of guy / girl and you need a night of serious eye candy — come down to Rockwood Music Hall on the 31st (next Thursday). They’ll even throw in the soundtrack to your swoon.

Jeffery Jones X Samantha House Jewelry
We here at SHJ love our look books. After months of slaving over new designs the truly amazing part is watching them come to life at our photo shoot. Witnessing the model, makeup artist and the rest of the crew coo over which piece is each of their favorite and getting comments on why they love it…this is truly the introduction to the new line. Then placing it on the models neck in a fantasy atmosphere–whether it be our Circus line with deep sexy lighting or our newest line PLAY shot against grafitti covered walls on the Lower East Side. We’re creating an image that defines Samantha House Jewelry and what we’re all about.
Behind all of that is artist Jeffery Jones. He’s the one who created our logo, he designed our web site and photographed our look books. He’s the one who decides on the subtlety of a font that totally eludes us. And he’s a perfectionist– which is why people really love our business cards and they’re simply white with thin black lettering on thick textured card stock. When we give them out people say: ” Wow. these are beautiful!” and we just chuckle because we know they are but we’re not exactly sure why. They’re so simple! Not to mention that they took him weeks to create. Weird. But we’re not complaining. It’s nice to have someone who cares about the subtle sparkle in the ink not visible to the human eye (but he knows its there).
On top of all that, Mr. Jones has also been dabbling in film as of late. He did a short film for the Circus collection that ended up on the film festival circuit. It was very fancy. And more recently he created a behind the scenes film for our PLAY collection. They’re both super beautiful and meticulously made. Of course. If you crave more of his talent you can visit his ultra pretty sometimes funny always updated blog http://www.jefferyjones.us/portfolio/category/Blog/

One of my favorite posts is NY and London Fashion Week Highlights. They post several of the best looks from the various Fashion Week shows. SO awesome!

Get on the G train. Like. Right. Now.
Have you heard about Hayden Harnett yet? If not- where have you been? It’s the cutest leather goods company in the whole wide world. The handbags are the focus but their wallets, passport cases, cuffs and apparel are to-freaking-die-for too. They recently got tons of press from their colab with Disney’s luxury line. Which by the way – was ridiculously breathtaking. You should go to www.haydenharnett.com and pour yourself over the beauty that is Hayden Harnett. But that’s not even the point of this post.
Did you ever have a friend who is just painfully chic all the time without even trying? Yeah- that’s Toni. She’s the designer and co-owner of HH and she– simply put– has impeccable taste. Not to mention that she lives and dies for teaming up with people non-stop. She’s pretty much up for whatever (in a good way!). Okay- enough gushing about my adoration for her, the line, and how bad I’m jones-ing for the Tron Byte carryall. It’s like a little piece of heaven in the palm of your hand (I can’t be stopped!- I really have a problem)
Back on course– To celebrate spring and well, just because it’s an awesome idea, Hayden Harnett is importing a well-edited pile of vintage clothes, accessories, bags and shoes and selling them in their flagship Greenpoint Shop. (The shoes are amazing by the way.) I think they’ve just gotten back from a trip to nowheresville Iowa or some other place that people really don’t appreciate good vintage. A place where amazing pieces sit there for ever because the people there just don’t get it. Here in NYC the vintage stores are all but picked clean and if you do find something cool they jack the price up to like $200 for a Pac Man T-shirt. Huh? I really don’t get that. Hayden Harnett vintage = stuff you actually want and can afford. The rest of the stores have clearly gone insane.
To top it off they’re adding items weekly and as always you’ll be able to get the current Hayden Harnett awesomeness there. Spring items are trickling in…much like spring itsself. I’ll see you there!

“PLAY” a New Collection by Samantha House Has Arrived!!
It’s been cold this winter. We’re not afraid to say that it’s sort of sucked. We went into it like naive children — cooing over the first snowfall thinking it was a thing of beauty. With the passing of days we soon realized that snow, and winter for that matter, blow. So we slipped into mourning for our beloved sun and wore nothing but black from head to toe. I know it’s New York so there’s a good chance no one noticed.
Now that the days have turned warmer and we spent a week at The Tents where people blatantly disregard what the weather is doing and just wear whatever the hell they feel like, we’ve turned the corner. And, honestly, we may be going overboard. It seems that everything I’ve personally bought in the last month- by sheer coincidence- has been an obnoxiously bright shade of pink, orange or blue. Luckily, the biggest trend for the coming season happens to be ridiculously bright colors so I won’t look as crazy as previously assumed.
Enter: PLAY! our new collection. We normally stick to basic, lush, color tones like nudes, amber and plum but we’ve gone a little bonkers this time. Because of our aforementioned funk, we subconsciously got all crazy with color up in here. The newest SHJ collection rocks colors like turquoise, vibrant yellow and – get this- rainbow. Uh-huh. We’ve gone all nuts and we’re fairly proud. Upon wearing the pieces out in public- we’re kind of in love. Sporting my favorite piece- The Gina Necklace in Turquoise, I noticed that people I don’t know have the same reaction as we do. You can even rock the NYC uniform (all black) and throw on a piece with a pop of color and look downright non-funeral attending.
The good news is that you can get it all right now- as in-RIGHT NOW! It’s for sale on exclusive preview at one (count em-one) place only. Our new fave accessories shopping site: http://www.spoilmefashion.com/ and as an added bonus, they’re giving you 20% off. So get on your Imac, Iphone or Ipad (yeah- we’re Apple people here) and score some brightly colored bling! You’ll be out of your winter funk in no time!
If you want to see the whole collection head to: http://www.spoilmefashion.com/ now!!

Check Out Samantha House Jewelry in Teen Vogue!
Thanks to our amazing Pr girl Tara, we here at Samantha House Jewelry have been getting a ton of press lately (and she hasn’t even really started). Obviously she’s a complete RockStar. I mean, that goes without saying. But when she walked in today and said we were featured in Teen Vogue, I nearly spit out my latte. It went something like this: “OmyGaaaaaaawd! Teen Vogue?! I adore that magazine! Weeeeeeeeeee!” (Lots of jumping around like, well, a teenager).
I can explain: Teen Vogue is the cutest compilation of perfectly adorable girls boys, clothes and jewelry. And we’re part of it. (Oh yeah- we’re officially Rad– we know.) Just in case you don’t get the pub (you know– because you’re over the age of 16) Below are a couple of pages which feature our goods.

We think we’re in love! And just in time for Valentine’s Day!
I don’t know much about Atlanta. I’ve spent a little time there with my bestie. But those days and nights were spent recovering from hangovers and creating them all over again. We didn’t do much shopping or anything else for that matter. Mostly because when I sat down to my computer to see if anything was out there I came up empty-handed. It just didn’t seem like there was too much retail excitement in the A-T-L.
Imagine our surprise when we got an email requesting our baubles at the cutest new shop in town. Namely: Vetted. Upon further investigation, we found out that the owner, April Wilkins, used to be the Marketing, PR and events specialist for Saks Fifth Avenue. Since we heart Saks (and always have) we knew our gems would be in good hands.
Not to mention she has the cutest personality and impeccable taste. Just check out the look of her shop. We love it! If you’re in Atlanta, go scope it out and pick up a piece of SHJ!

We Admit it- We’ve been slacking and we’re fine with it
After the ultra-successful year that Samantha House Jewelry has had, we admit it, we needed a little “us time”. That’s why we took a massive vacation and stretched it out as long as we could. 5 weeks to be exact. What are we? European? We’d like to be. It was awesome. Thanks for asking.
But all good things must come to an end and we’re back now and ready to get going. We’re already working on our new collection and planning out fashion week (just 3 short weeks away). And since my friend so nicely recently inquired: “What the Hell is up with your Blog? You’ve seriously been slacking!” I thought I would post something I’ve been meaning to for a while…you know, while I was sipping Sauvignon Blanc in 75 degrees. I was like: ” I will totally get to that…eventually.”
I’ve made it a sort of hobby to take pictures of people wearing my jewelry. I just love to see people sporting it. It makes me happy. So below is just a random selection of shots that I like. I have a million more but I don’t quite have the warm weather out of my blood yet and — I’ll say it— I’m still not working at my full potential.

Our New Fav Singer: Paloma Faith! Get on the bandwagon!
As I was updating our adorable shopping site yesterday in the office, my ears perk up at the sound of something a little jazzy and a lot fabulous. Feast your music loving ears on Paloma Faith, a cute quirky little british singer/songwriter! I can’t wait until she makes it out here to the states, so we can dress her in our divalicious baubles! Wouldn’t she look fabulous in SHJ?
Also check out her song “New York”… a little less poppy and more jazzy than “Upside Down”, but still just as fabulous.
We have some exciting things coming up for the holidays! Make sure you stay tuned so you can be the FIRST to know about all the SHJ magic that is coming your way
Stay fabulous lovers!

New Collection Sneak Peek: Circus
I’ve been working on my new collection for a few months now and I’m happy to say that it’s done! I am really excited about this one- in fact, I think it’s the best one so far. Usually I’m tortured for months over new designs but for some reason this one came to me fairly easily and I’m so proud of it. And judging how people have been cooing over it I’d say that it’s going to be a hit.
Since I love it so much I’m eager to send it out into the world…thus the immediate photoshoot. We met at K&M Studios and got to work. Below are some photos taken during the shoot. The real thing will be polished and perfect but in a world that’s retouched and processed, it’s nice to see some imperfection sometimes.
